Procrastination is going to be the death of so many people in this world. I’m not talking about a physical death, though that is certainly possible if you keep putting off going to your doctor. No, I’m talking more about the death of your focus and drive. People who just sit, day after day, putting off the things that they’d like to do, or need to do, pretty much just end up existing through life. That’s no way to live. But there are ways to help you with overcoming procrastination. This article will give you a couple of suggestions, so read along and do it now!
First, what are the causes of procrastination? Well, there are several, but one of the biggest factor is fear. People are just afraid of failing. Heck, some people are as much afraid of success. It’s not so easy going from living in a shack to living in a big ol' house. Then of course there is the problem with time management. Some people procrastinate because they don’t accurately project how long it’s going to take to do something, so they just keep putting it off because they either never have enough time or they think they have all the time in the world.
Great, so how do we put an end to this nonsense and stop procrastination? Well, let’s tackle the easy one first…time management procrastination. The easiest way to do this is simply to create a schedule for yourself. Give yourself a certain time frame to complete a project. If it’s not completed within that length of time, put it aside temporarily. That day, make a new schedule for the completion. Schedule a day and time to do it. If it’s written out in front of you, you’ll do it much like how you would go to work each day at a given time. Things that are written down are hard to ignore and your much needed procrastination help will be in your reach.
But what about the fear aspect? That’s a little harder with overcoming procrastination. The best way to do this is to think about what the worst possible outcome could be if you did go ahead with the project. Then think about the worst possible outcome if you didn’t. In most cases, you will find that going ahead with the project, even if you fail, is a much better alternative than not going through with it at all. It’s called putting things into perspective and it really helps a lot in getting things done.
Don’t let procrastination hold you back from the things you need to do.
